Blog Tour: Worth the Risk by K. Bromberg

“Bromberg is a master at turning up the heat.”

New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans

Worth the Risk, an all-new, sexy standalone about taking chances and finding love when it’s least expected, from New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg, is LIVE!

This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I know, I know. Famous last words.

It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.

But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?

Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.

But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.

But he got to me. They got to me. Him and his son and their messy, crazy life.  But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.

And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?

But by the time I reach her, my blood boils with irrationality spurred on by too much alcohol.“Can I have a moment?” I ask as I walk up to her and grab her elbow, pushing her down the darkened hallway. “What is your problem?” She hisses as she fights me every step of the way. We get looks. I get looks. I don’t care because all I keep seeing is Vince’s hands on her arm. His eyes on her tits. His bullshit game I can spot a mile away. I find the closest door down the hallway leading to the bathrooms, and it opens. I push her through it, barely noticing that it’s an office of sorts before the door is shut, her back is up against it, and my mouth is covering hers. Take. Goddammit. That’s my only thought as I fit my lips to hers and take out my anger on her mouth with tongue and teeth and every fucking lick and nip in between. “What—” “I’m so pissed at you.” It’s all I say. It’s the only chance I give her to come up for air before my lips are back on hers. Before my tongue wars with hers. Before my body admits it would beg, borrow, and steal in order to taste every other part of her. Groan. I swallow the tiny sound she makes in our kiss as my hands hold her neck still and my lips wage an all-out assault. She hesitates—just a split second—before she reacts. Before her body bows into me, and her mouth argues back. Fist. Her hand in my shirt. Her other hand at the back of my neck as our bodies meet—pressed knee to chest. Her perfume in my nose. Her hair tickling my cheeks. The feel of her tits against my chest. Give. I can’t get enough. I’m mad at her. I want her. I don’t want to want her. Christ, do I want her. “Gray.” A murmured protest. I tear my lips from hers, shove off the door I have her pressed against, and stride to the other side of the room. “You are . . . you just . . .” It’s as if I can barely breathe. Christ, I’m mad at you.” She stands there, lips parted, chest heaving, and golden brown curls messed from my hands, but her eyes look hurt. A hurt I don’t want to see but can’t deny. “Why?” “You did this,” I accuse as I try to manage the anger that’s waging a war against my desire. “Did what?” Her eyes narrow. Her hand goes to press against her chest. “Made me want you.” for CGFC Grayson: I’ve been thinking about you all day. I look down at the text and smile before turning my attention back to Rissa and our plans for how we’re going to end this round of voting and move on to the top five. “So, I think we close it out and then maybe take the next week and announce one of the finalists each day. Give little tidbits about each of them, make readers like them more, just have fun with it.” My phone beeps again with another text, and I bite back the new grin trying to form on my lips. Rissa only huffs, eyeing my phone with annoyance. “Sorry, let me turn my ringer off.” And then I have to feign nonchalance when I look down at my phone and find another text. Grayson: My dick is rock hard, and it’s you I’m imagining. It’s in my hand when I’d rather it be in your mouth with my fingers in your pussy, working you into a frenzy. “Is everything okay?” Rissa asks, making me realize I must have made a noise when I read the text. “You look startled.” I glance back at the text again and shake my head while every part of my body comes to life. “Yeah, it’s, uh, fine.” “Your ringer.” Her brows are lifted as she glances to my phone and then back to me. My finger?” I squeak, thinking she saw the phone screen. “Ringer. Sound on your phone.” “Oh, yes . . . sorry.” Flustered, I fumble with my cell, and before I can even switch it off, another text alert pings. Grayson: I want to bend you over and watch as my cock slides in and out of you. “So back to next week . . .” “Yes,” I swallow over the desire lodged in every place it should be and try not to glance at my phone as it vibrates again. “Are you good with that plan?” Rissa asks as I shift in my seat to abate the sudden ache burning brighter than bright. “Yes. Sure. I think that sounds like a great plan.” Grayson: I want my cock buried so deep that you feel every damn inch of me. “Are you sure you’re okay?” “Yeah, why?” My voice breaks like a prepubescent teenager. Grayson: I want you to come so hard you have to bite the pillow. “You look a little flushed. Are you coming down with something?” Grayson: You always have a choice. Isn’t that what you said to me once? Make a choice, Sidney. Isn’t it time to head to lunch? “I mean, yeah, maybe.” I pull at my collar some. “Maybe that’s why I feel so flushed all of a sudden.” Grayson: Meet me on the backside of The Cottages. Room Six. Fifteen minutes. “Either that,” she says as she stands and heads to the door, only turning back to give me a wink, “or you’re guilty as hell. Maybe you should go take care of that itch texting you . . . or take some Tylenol. Whichever one it is, I think you should take the afternoon off.” Grayson: Choose me. “Oh.” It’s the only thing I can think to say because my brain is otherwise occupied imagining Grayson following through on his promises. “And, Sid?” “Yeah?” “I sure hope he’s every bit worth breaking the rules.” She winks. “It’s about damn time. Your secret is safe with me.”

Three NewAdult/Adult Romance 5-Star Mini-Reviews

These are not YA/Teen, so I decided to group them together, although one isn't really quite the same as the others, it matches most closely for how I wanted to group them.  I've reviewed them in order of steam in a way.  While the first one is a paranormal romance, the age of the characters make it New Adult, and it is just slightly sexy.  The last one in the review is VERY sexy, probably way more than some people are interested in, so you can stop before that if you want to.  Again, trying to get caught up on my reviews!

Brave (A Wicked Trilogy #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout:
Genre:  New Adult Paranormal Romance
Published:  December 11th, 2017
Source:  Purchased physical copy
My rating:  5 stars

After the end of the second book in the series, Torn, I was so ready to read on, I just didn't quite have the time to pick it up right away. But, as usual, with any JLA book, I picked it up and could barely put it down to go to sleep!  I love the way the end all went down.  It was a battle worth reading, the build-up, the betrayals, the things that had to be sacrificed, all of it was so good.  And as usual, I adored Tink.  So much about him in this book. And then of course, there was Ren.  I love Ren, but I'm with Ivy when she gets mad about him trying to keep her out of the action.  Even if you get his motivation.  There were also very steamy moments with Ivy and Ren.  I loved the twist with the Prince, and the Queen, and all of it!  I won't say a lot, because I won't give stuff away for those who haven't read the other books in the series.   In case you haven't read even the first one yet, go check out my review of Wicked, HERE.  So far, I have yet to find anything that JLA can do wrong when writing a story.

Here is the blurb from Goodreads:

Ivy Morgan hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.

It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine... and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart.

If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies.

Ivy knows she must be more than just brave to save those she loves--and, ultimately, to save herself.

Because behind every evil fae Prince, there’s a Queen….

Can I just say WOW?!  This book had every chapter done by a different author, but honestly, I couldn't tell it was a different person writing!  Normally you get a little bit different feel, but not with this, it flowed perfectly!  And the story was a fun one, maybe had a few predictable aspects to the story, but they played out uniquely and kept my interest.  In fact at one point it went in a totally different direction than I expected.  Also, hilarious!  The hilarity of each chapter is another thing that amazed me.  Normally not all authors can do the same funny, but these all did!  I'd had this sitting in my room for awhile to read since I won it, but decided to finally pick it up and read it when I realized there were several authors in it that were new to me, but that I would get the chance to meet them at Book Bonanza in July.  I also am interested to read other books by these authors now.   Oh yeah, I love when books use things like emails or instant messaging, etc., to tell the story. This one included Twitter posts, which were part of what made this such a hilarious story.

Here is the blurb from Goodreads:

Verity Michaels is new to New York City, but even she knows riding in a stolen cab is not a normal way to meet someone. Damn it if that tattoo-covered would-be felon isn’t everywhere now, and lighting everything on fire under her skirt.

His name is Hudson Fenn, and he’s frustratingly impossible to pin down. He works as a bike messenger, but has the manners of a prince—along with a strange tendency toward breaking and entering. As much as Verity knows he’s not her type, and likely to land her in jail, she can’t help but find her truest self when they’re together.

Can she be brave enough to give Hudson a real chance? Will he be bold enough to reveal the man beneath the ink, or will his secrecy doom their connection? Also, WTF is the deal with Verity’s boss? No less than thirteen of your favorite romance writers have teamed up to tell this sexy, wacky, snort-inducing tale. With them you’ll visit the world’s most irritating office, a VIP room of questionable cleanliness, and the fanciest apartment a bike messenger has ever inhabited, but you’ll still never see this ending coming.

Rock F*ck Club by Michelle Mankin:
Genre:  Adult Rock Star Romance
Published:  April 10th, 2017
Source:  Purchased copy from author at KIKC 2018
My rating:  5 stars

So this one is a LOT raunchier than the other two books in this post, so I saved it for last.  If too much sex, taboo sex, etc., is not your thing, or offends you, you probably want to stop reading this post.  Because as you can probably tell from the title it is basically about sex.  I'm going to be honest, and you know I liked this book, I gave it 5 stars.  But honestly, I love that it didn't water down what the actual plot/storyline was supposed to be.  She really did follow through with her 10 rock stars, well, for the most part.  Early on in the story she did meet the one that she ends up with, the one that she will fall in love with. But at first he was kind of irritating to her.  So she kept going with her plan.  There was one of the guys that turned out to be a bad guy, and intended to do things she didn't want to do, force her even.  And the way the author handled that whole situation was done well in my opinion.  This book definitely was one that gave the woman the power, the permission if you will, to take her sexuality and do with it as she wanted, not to feel she had to conform to what society believes.  It also showed that not only was it okay, there was a guy out there, who while he may not have been happy, he was jealous, he didn't shame her or look down on her as society does. And I think that is important in the world of romance, that it can be shown that way.  Again, that is my opinion.

I met this author for the first time at the Kinky in Kansas City Convention this past March, and I look forward to seeing her again at Book Bonanza in July, and will probably buy another book from her.  Well, if I decide to do any pre-ordering!  But I know I will read more by her in the future.  She knows how to put the steam into the love story.

Here is the blurb from Goodreads:

10 cities in two weeks 10 famous rockstars. On my knees. Against the wall. On my tits
I don't care. As long as I get the evidence to prove it. Why? Because I caught my former prick of a boyfriend from Heavy Metal Enthusiasts doing a groupie doggie style backstage on the night we were supposed to be celebrating our 1 year anniversary.

He told me I was too uptight. Too vanilla. Too boring. So I got drunk with my bestie, Marsha West, the aspiring videographer. I ranted. I raved. I came up with a crazy idea. What I didn't know was that my best friend recorded me. Marsha put the video up on YouTube. It went viral with 10 million hits. Now I've got fans and sponsors offering me big bucks.

Rockstars are volunteering to be my f*ck buddy.
Hollywood is calling.
I get to choose which rockstars I want.
The stakes are high.
This sh*t just got real.
What could go wrong?

Audiobook Review: Bro Code by Kendall Ryan

Book info:
TitleBro Code
Author:  Kendall Ryan
Audiobook Narrators:  Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan
Genre:  Adult Romantic Comedy
Release Date:  May 1st, 2018
Source:  Audiobook gifted from InkSlingerPR did not affect my opinion in any way
My rating:  4 stars

From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a flirty new standalone about falling for your older brother's best friend.

There’s pretty much only one rule when you’re a guy.

Don’t be a douche.

Turns out, the fastest way to break that rule is to fall for your best friend’s sister.

Ava’s brilliant, sharp-tongued, gorgeous, and five years younger than me.

She’s the sexual equivalent of running with scissors. In a word, she’s dangerous. And completely off-limits.

Falling for her could ruin everything.

Yet I can’t seem to stop, even when her company is threatened by a lawsuit, and my promotion hinges on representing the opposing client—and winning.

I can’t see a way out of this mess that doesn’t end in a broken friendship, a broken heart, or a ruined career.

I may have broken the bro code when I fell for Ava. But do I have the balls to handle what comes next?

My Review:
While I've wanted to read a book by this author for quite a while, even downloaded several of her titles when they were on sale, this is actually the first one I've read, or listened to actually.  I definitely enjoyed it.  Now, I gave it 4 stars, but it might be a little closer to 3.5 because of a few issues I had with it. But as I've mentioned in the past, I always like to round up if I've enjoyed the book.  This audiobook not only had different narrators for the two different characters, it was also done with what I think is called dual narrating?  That is where the female narrator does all the female speaking parts, even when it is the male narrator's chapter.  And vice versa for the  male narrator with the speaking parts for the male characters.  I've listened to books like this before, most notable the Harris Brothers series by Amy Daws, and it was great.  However, there were some moments in this one that didn't quite match up like you'd hope.  And in a way, I think these two narrators, were probably good at doing the opposite sex voices, as they were pretty good at sounding like different characters even staying with the same sex as they did.  And even though at times the male voice droned a little, by the end, I definitely enjoyed his part.

Some things I really liked is that we would often get more than one chapter at a time from one of the character's viewpoints, when it made sense to do it that way.  I've seen that before, but so often it is just the female character that gets it, and I loved that we got it from Barrett as well as Ava in this one. Barrett is Ava's brother's best friend.  And while Ava had a crush on him for a long time, he never really noticed I guess.  But Barrett has been attracted to her since she was in high school, although he definitely enjoyed being around her and hanging out long before then.  The romance was pretty sweet, and the sex scenes definitely steamy, if a little vague at times. But that's okay.  They weren't a fade to black type, and that made me happy.  And let's just say the beginning of the book was so funny!  Walking in on Barrett in the shower, accidentally slipping and pulling his sweat pants down in the parking lot, cooking in the kitchen and the cucumber joke.

Now, there were a few things that make it more of a 3.5, and I'll list those.  First, the whole we can't be together, the whole "bro code" thing.  Yeah, I get it, and I like it, and I know it was the point of the book.  But it was like every other sentence for a while at the beginning of the story. And not just Barrett thinking that, even with Ava thinking it as well. Maybe if I'd been reading the physical book, where I could have skipped over that part while reading it wouldn't have bothered me as much. But, since I was listening to the audiobook, and I was stuck listening as it went along so I didn't miss anything else, I had to keep hearing it over and over.   Also, while I didn't see the twist coming at the end, and I like that, I notice that the synopsis/blurb I got here for the tour kind of gives that away.  It's not in the blurb on Goodreads.  I think maybe it's better to keep it as a twist.  But that's just my opinion.

Also, another thing, and this isn't just this book, this is any brother's best friend romance.  If you are best friends with someone, and they're like family, wouldn't you want that person to be part of your family and be with your sister?  I mean, if you can tell they like them more than a hook-up.  Just my opinion again.  Overall a good listen, probably an even better read!

Dear Reader,

Welcome to this “Choose your own author biography” adventure.
Door 1.
Daisy Allen is a ravishing beautiful temptress with a Mensa qualifying IQ and saves puppies and kittens and sloths from evil overlords in her spare time away from her job as the director of a secret NASA department that communicates with friendly aliens. She also definitely does not ever touch wine, ever, never ever.
Door 2.
Daisy Allen is a fiction writer.
*insert memes of writers sitting in Cheetos stained sweats at 4am watching Scandal on Netflix and wondering “why is life?”*
In the moments she does put finger to keyboard though, she writes the kind where men and women meet, men and women fight like dogs, interspersed with men and women rolling around naked on numerous surfaces like puppies.
There’s a lot of good music, great food, expensive wine and incredible locations along the way, but in the end, the most important thing is that love will win out.
Daisy Allen is a romantic.
P.S. Oh, and she’s Australian. So, please excuse the random “Australianisms” that she sneaks past her editor.
